WE NEED TO GO BACK TO BASICS!!!!

There is no period in human existence that is worthy of revisiting in its entirety. But there are some basic principles that we should collectively fight darn hard to re-establish:

  1. Basic truth – this has become an impossibility. As a global community we need to reset and demand honesty and demonstrable fact, not just any fact.
  2. Beliefs – what do we believe in? Personally I am not religious. I an a deist – I believe in God but not in a particular religion. Over the years I have stopped talking to or associating with many friends and family members who wish to exert their beliefs: I do not blame them for what they choose to believe and many of their take on life, which was developed when they grew up during the Enoch Powell days in Britain where leading politicians spoke of rivers of blood and warned that the Afro-Caribbean influx will lead to bloodshed and erosion of British values, values that indeed disavow their approach and disavow such attempts at spreading hatred, but they persisted. So, I can totally relate to what they must have suffered and why they simply cannot now get themselves to see things in a different light. We have given up trying to convince each other and simply agree to go our separate ways and some of them I have not spoken to in over 20 years. Each to their own. My personal take on life is to evaluate as I go along as opposed to holding unchangeable views. Some of those folks had religious views from direct interpretation of religious books written in a very different era e.g. arguments that heterosexuality is the only Godly relationship etc. Again, it is impossible to have a rational discussion with these folks and I have simply left them to my past (no hard feelings whatsoever. They lead their lives and I lead mine) and it is the way society should operate: if you believe your religion is the best and only true religion, then enjoy that privilege. No need to try to force others to accept that. I don’t see many billionaires forcefully handing money to the poor just so we can all share in that religion and be rich! So, why do it with religion?
  3. Basic decency – this has never been universal. Over the years it has been gradually eroded. When someone kneels on the neck of another till dead or drives a vehicle into another human being, does it really matter what colour or race they are or which union they belong to or whether a civil or criminal case is brought? We need to find the strength to be decent: it simply cannot be right can it? We shouldn’t need protests on the street or amendments to law, society has the power to come together and condemn this inhumanity. This is not about righting wrongs but totally and solely about the direction in which today’s society must head. If someone could have come up with the Magna Carta in 1215, how on earth can we struggle with equality and decency in 2020?

We must level societies globally and NO, that is not a socialist agenda!

Basic decency is where it starts. It is an individual challenge. If we can each take a stand for decency, we will slowly reverse the current trend

an everyday professional wondering (as many others do daily) what all the animosity is all about? we all came with nothing (as babies), didn’t choose where we popped out and we will all leave (when we die) with nothing.
