Just watched the Joe Biden inauguration.
The entire world heaves a massive sigh of relief!
No matter how much we all try to pretend, most of us know (deep down) what is decent and what is indecent. The minute someone begins to make excuses such as ‘America First’, to lock helpless children up in cages, we all know decency is out the window. Of course there is nothing wrong with ‘America First’ or ‘Britain First’ or any other country wanting to put their people first, BUT it can never become an excuse for inhumanity. No American president will put America second ever, but only a mischief-maker will try to turn it into a battle-cry.
Around the world, we saw a bunch of apologists. People who try to make excuses for indecency. Shame on you all
Now that decency has returned. Even if Biden is ineffectual or his plans handicapped by others, at least we will now see some decency, absence of lies and incitement of divisiveness. The very basic minimum in terms of expected behaviour from an elected official supposedly in position or rather, in office, to represent THE PEOPLE
America’s biggest challenge will come in 2024, when the Democratic Party will have to decide whether to risk Kamala Harris as their presidential candidate for 2024 after what happened to Hilary Clinton (with women deciding not to vote for a woman). 4 years will not be enough to fully reset America and it will be absolutely necessary for the current administration to last for at least two terms in office
