I do not follow French politics and personally neither for nor against the French President. But for a citizen to reach out and slap an individual who is the representation of your country just shows how self-destructive some of the young folks of today are. It is tantamount to fouling your own living room!
But what I found quite impressive was how President Macron refused getting rushed off by his security detail. He wanted to carry on chatting to the small group of people there, even though they were probably of a similar conviction to the idiot who slapped him. Think what you may of Macron, he showed some guts there and bravo to him
To slap a guy who is the global face and representation of your country is such counterproductive move as it belittles the very country you claim to defend. To do it in public, with whole world gazing on, is reprehensible
