“disgusting”, “no place in sports, society” etc….

…those are the empty, hollow words set to dominate the rest of 2021…

I am not sure what people are looking for? You cannot stop racist abuse by attempting to track & arrest all perpetrators. It won’t work.

Racist abuse online or anywhere else should be dealt with in the same manner as any other form of abuse. Giving it this bizarre extra weighting simply encourages the abusers. What needs clarifying is that sending someone a monkey emoji or whatever else, doesn’t add any extra impetus to it.

We feign disgust, but how many really care about it?

There’s nothing extra-special or spectacular about racist abuse. Abuse is abuse and nobody should have to put up with abuse, be it racist or non-racist. But seriously! Stop the pretence!

Day after day we hear about how vile and disgusting it is, but no real action (almost like climate change…)

Even if social media companies find a way to end online racist abuse, does that mean the abusers have been rehabilitated? Obviously not. They will move on to graffiti and other options and if those avenues are shut, they will find others. So, is it not simpler to just show them they are not hurting anyone by just ignoring them? Yes, track them down, arrest them, name & shame etc., but a more permanent way to shut this down is to face reality. Their actions are only impactful, if people continue to be impacted by them….

an everyday professional wondering (as many others do daily) what all the animosity is all about? we all came with nothing (as babies), didn’t choose where we popped out and we will all leave (when we die) with nothing.
