Past few days we’ve all been watching the Olympics in Tokyo. To hear and read about people saying winning or securing gold is what it’s all about is so puzzling. How pathetic are we going to get as a society before we all wake up and say enough is enough! Just getting to the Olympics is such a massive achievement and you don’t need to be an athlete to understand the devotion, commitment and dedication required to get anywhere near being good enough to get to an Olympics
The attention-seeking, social-media dependent vipers who have never achieved anything but seek to rubbish the achievement of those finishing 2nd, 3rd or just even making it to the games really needs a robust and ceaseless challenge from decent members of the public
Competition is great and seeking to put one’s country at the helm is also great, but a great deal of perspective is now required. Gold, silver or bronze, when we die, we all take nothing with us…..
