REMEMBRANCE DAY – as we solemnly remember so many who had to die for the freedoms we so casually take for granted

When you read some of the divisive (no reason makes it acceptable) rhetoric that’s now been normalised in today’s society, Remembrance Day becomes increasingly poignant. Most of those who gave everything for us (gave their life for us) were barely boys. We must find a way to honour their sacrifice by warding off future wars! War should never be an option. We must find other ways to settle matters.

Divisive folk should be reminded of the hundreds of thousands who gave their lives, and they did so regardless of their politics or preferences; we must honour their sacrifice by saying no, firmly, to divisiveness. We always say: “lest we forget”. But indeed, the best way to remember these fallen heroes, is to banish hatred of others from our words & actions. It is such divisiveness that led to the wars that claimed those lives that we now remember on Remembrance Day. When are we going to learn?

It’s so easy to just gloss over Remembrance Day and carry on. But we must never forget the sacrifice of those who gave their life for us; they would have had children, grandchildren etc., we sit here today, moaning about all sort, they gave their lives for us!
