Running a government is probably not as easy as many seem to think it is….

You only have to look at the current UK government; led by decent individuals who truly want to help the country, but unfortunately, does the country wish to be helped? All you hear is: oh, they are increasing taxes! Oh, they want to do this or that! Well, ask yourself this: why do you think they are taking such action? Is it so they can wreck the economy? How would that benefit their hope for re-election?

It is not that difficult to say you want to disrupt, as the incoming Trump government appear to be doing. Appoint individuals who won’t be the norm! Stir it all up etc. Well, as I said in my previous article, when all you can say the government they are replacing did, was ‘be normal’ and ‘be decent’, while achieving very little else, you can partly see the reason they lost the 2024 election, with so many millions seeming to want to see what an opposite arrangement would look like. But running a government is not exactly the same as running a business, because with businesses such as Tesla, you have a lot longer than 4 years to get things done. With government, particularly in the US, you spend the first year in transition; getting appointees ratified by congress, reversing a lot of the policies of the last government etc. By the time you get to year 2, you are already facing a number of elections such as the mid-term, when you could suddenly lose control of the House of Representatives or the Senate, and suddenly, you are having some tough challenges and year 3 is spent fighting that. Before you know it, you’re back in an election year (year 4) and you’re off on your bike! As such, it is a self-fulfilling prophecy for America. Come January, if the intention is to go in a tangent to the norm and do stuff, the outcome is likely to be as many are already predicting. But of course, for the sake of Americans and the ripple effect on the rest of the world, I certainly hope we are all pleasantly surprised and the disrupters are proven right and they open the eyes of the world to their genius/this bold new way to govern….
