We find the next excuse, then the next and the next…..

Perhaps, the simple answer is: IT IS US! Humans! Not social media or the knives, guns etc…

For years, the folk who sell guns, tell us it isn’t guns that kill. Those who counter, say: well, punches or knifes kill fewer people. I won’t get into all that today.

I was astounded today, when a UK newspaper headline stated that the 6-month old Prime Minister and Chancellor of the Exchequer (i.e. Finance Minister) have ruined the UK economy! Jeez!!! Can we possibly have such a short memory??? It was only a few months ago, prior to this government stepping into power, that we had the Liz Truss budget that is still impacting millions of people whose mortgages flew through the roof!
To begin with, if an economy is anywhere near stable, it is simply not possible to ruin it in 6 months!
And YES, the new government have made a number of very questionable decisions and several unnecessary ones. And they may well end up ruining the economy, but that is yet to be seen.

We have become so beholden to the fast past of unedited, non-factual information feed that is now available online. No rules, no efficacy, no responsibility. Fact-checking is pointless as the masses no longer wish for facts. It’s all about mindless reaction and immediate thirst for the next headline. Carnage is what left in its wake.

Yesterday, Canada’s PM announced he will resign. Now, the ones who have pushed him off the cliff edge, will find a mountain of excuses to explain their own inability to perform any better than he has. It is very easy to be in opposition, shouting out what’s supposedly wrong. It’s quite a different matter, when you’re faced with solving the problems as opposed to criticising those attempting to solve the problem. Canadians will find this out very shortly….

You now frequently hear people (myself included) blaming social media for the spread of lies, misinformation, disinformation etc. We say that in the absence of X (twitter), Tik Tok etc., people would not go rioting as they did last summer in the UK. That people will be less inclined to be led astray etc. I am beginning to be less and less convinced by this argument. It seems we are what we are. We just keep on finding stuff to blame….

an everyday professional wondering (as many others do daily) what all the animosity is all about? we all came with nothing (as babies), didn’t choose where we popped out and we will all leave (when we die) with nothing.
