If you are the president of a country where so many of your citizens are hellbent on fleeing to another country (for whatever reason), would you have time to trade silly bards?
Today, the President of mexico had the time to stand in front of some silly map, to suggest the US can be renamed Mexican America, as her response to Trump stating his intention to rename the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America. Huge swathes of Mexico remain unsafe as a result of cartel violence, thousands of Mexicans are likely to be deported from the US shortly, if Trump does what he said he’s going to do. Should these not be more pressing matters for the president of Mexico? Instead, she is sucked into the silliness of engaging in tittle-tattle with the soon to be president of a country that has a lot less to worry about.
I am sure the struggling, suffering people of Mexico would rather have a safe environment and prosperity – so that they don’t have to keep sneaking off illegally into the US in search of menial labour – than debate the renaming of the Gulf of Mexico or the tittle-tattle their president is wasting time on….
