The hounding of Rachel Reeves is tantamount to cutting off ones’ nose to spite ones’ face!

We say the country is in economic peril. We have a Chancellor who has been in place for a few months and we want to do her in!!?? For Pete’s sake! Much as I do not agree with many of the actions she has taken so far e.g. the obsession with slapping VAT on private school fees, the simple fact of the matter is that she ain’t doing any of this just for herself is she? Yes, she is a politician and they are always eyeing the next promotion, the next position, and I am sure she would one day want to be Prime Minister, but to get there, she knows she must perform as Chancellor. Surely, that is to the country’s benefit that she performs…

So, why are people trying to short circuit her???

She has a degree and a masters degree. She is only in her 40s, so, even if she has worked every day since she finished university, she would have only worked for about 20 years. And she has been an MP for at least 10 of those. So, whether those 10 years were half at the Bank of England or less and some at HBOS, she may have tried to make her experience sound a bit more than it was. Ok. But we have MPs who are in charge of the Health Service (NHS) who are not doctors or medical people and have never worked in the health sector. Rachel Reeves has some finance experience. It may be a little less than what she put on her CV that’s being question, BUT for goodness sake! Let’s not run her out of town if she can help our economy folk! If in a few months’ time her economic measure fail, then ask for her resignation on that basis, not for the ongoing petty, storm in a teacup! She worked at Bank of England for 5.5 years but claimed 6 years or said a decade or better part of a decade in a speech! Jeez!!! So what???? It wasn’t 0 years!!! And she said she worked as an economist but was actually just head of retail complaints. Ok. She still worked in a bank!!! GIVE THE WOMAN A BREAK!!!! Let her focus on sorting the economy!!!
