Compassion is imperative and I do feel for these people as they are, for whatever reason, in this situation. BUT, this really has to stop. Everyone in the UK benefit from a system based on the rule of law: we work hard, pay our taxes etc. Services are based on careful planning. To have such extreme numbers of people, coming in, without a support system in place, to take them in, is harmful to everyone.
This feeling of entitlement, that you can just pay someone to force your way into a country, is not fair on that country & its people. But I suppose the onus may well be on the UK government to find a way to end this situation. But as I do not have a solution, and I suspect many others don’t either. Tech must be the answer. There must be a tech solution to this.
People in the UK appear totally fed up with this situation, as they feel so helpless in their own country, to keep seeing these extraordinary numbers of folk just rowing in every month. It is sadly turning many against the spirit of charity, which used to be so abundant here.
I hope someone comes up with a practical and humane way to fix this problem soon. It really has become ridiculous..
