Our politics in the UK has always been very predictable…

Years before Boris Johnson ran for Mayor of London, I said he will be Mayor. A year after he became Mayor, I said he will be Prime Minister. I can say with very little doubt today, that Boris Johnson will soon be back as the leader of the Conservative Party and he will try to return as Prime Minister but this time around, he won’t make it. Why? potential as his tricks remain, they won’t quite cut it this time.

The populist Reform Party sweeping the local council elections last week, was very predictable. Why? so many voters in the UK do not feel listened to. They feel the government is not listening to them, but the simple truth is that they forget that we are in a democracy and the government has to listen to everyone and not just the loudest or the ones who think they are the majority. The government do listen, but they cannot possibly bend to every whim of sections of the electorate. Can and should the government communicate better? ABSOLUTELY. I see no reason why the Prime Minister and his Cabinet and other MPs do not engage better with the electorate, to help people see that some of the things they are asking for, is just not so straightforward! We are all sick to death of the seemingly uncontrollable migration of people into the country via the English Channel on small boats. But dealing with it, is not as simple as people think it is. Should the government communicate that better? ABSOLUTELY! The country is in dire need to that clarity, as the present levels of intolerance and hate, fuelled by the migration anger, is not sustainable. We need to turn the temperature down!

But yes, Boris will be back. He will whip up the crowds again and do a deal with Reform and try to get back to 10 Downing Street. This is a fairly easy prediction. It will happen. And very soon…
